Eh. A Bride or a Billionaire was okay. It was a quick read and entertaining enough though nothing all that special.The Gist: Matteo finds himself suddenly in need of a wife. And the perfect 'fake wife' is right at his fingertips...a girl he's just rescued from an airport scuffle that left her injured. She's desperate for money so...why not? They'll spend a month married, both get what they want then go their separate ways...
So, yes. This one was fine. It's nothing new -- rich guy with inheritance on the line, poor girl in dire straits making a deal-- and wasn't all that memorable. Matteo and Riley were fine. She's a little defensive, he's a bit of a jerk. But they seemed to like one another. I didn't hate em. There was some over the top drama that brought them closer together and that was about it.
Fine for a rainy afternoon but not one that inspired me to pick up any more from the series.

This was a good book...especially for a free book. The plot isn't a new one, but the story does take on some new elements. Emilia was a great nemesis. The writer made her very easy to hate and then have (some)sympathy for. The only downfall of the book is the ending. It has a HEA of course, but it ends rather abruptly. This big scene happens and then BAM! It's over. I was left wanting it all tidied up. Maybe a meeting where the employees return and he shows his softer side to his employees. Clears Riley's name(about the embezzlement) with the board or maybe explains what his father was really like. SOMETHING
The jaded 25 year old Italian billionaire CEO, Matteo doesn't want to be CEO of his Father's company. His evil step sister, Emilia wants everything, Matteo included! His fathers will states he must marry within a month of his 25th birthday and stay married for 6 months being faithful to his new wife the whole time. His father has promised Emilia the company and his son since she was 14 in exchange for sex. Mateo's father was not a good man! Riley is an innocent, broke 21 year old, who just graduated from college in a foreign exchange program in Italy. She is waiting for her plane to take her back to the states. I like Lauren Hawkeye's stories they are a nice interesting read that you know will keep your attention throughout the book.She makes her characters believable and the chemestry between Riley and Matteo is at high alert! This was another hit from Lauren! The heat level is about a 7.
Riley is a poor american girl who has the inner strength that would be hard to match. She is strong willed but inexperienced in areas of love. She has vowed not to turn into her mother, a true life whore.
Matteo is a billionaire heir, but before he can get his inheritance, his controlling father has left one stipulation. He must marry within 30 days of his 25th birthday and stay married for thirty days after, remaining faithful to the woman in question. If he fails, he loses it all to a woman who is not even blood.
I was sucked into this story from the beginning, heat jumping between Matteo and pretty much any woman he comes into contact with. I loved Riley's fearless nature and fierce desire to take what she wants, despite all the roadblocks in her way. She sticks true to her promise to herself not to sacrifice who she is or turn into her mother. I love that although it is not directly said, the author leaves a subliminal message from Matteo's dad to him. I fall more in love with Lauren's writing with each book I read!
This was defiantly a fun and full of surprises kind of book... It was short and kept me completely interested until the very end, I even couldn't wait to read the next...
These are series - yet can are stand a lone..
This is a story about Matteo Benenati (rich billionaire who's father passed away and he is to inherit his company) and Riley Tremine - tough and fiesta girl that fought her way out of trailer park w a trash prostitute of a mother to get her degree - yet still having difficult time finding work... Yet somehow fate has it that these two very different people come together under very ODD CIRCUMSTANCE! And it just get more intriguing as the book goes on, from one shoe to drop to the next... Matteo get a shock in a board meeting that he must marry with 30 days after his 25th bday and stay not only married for an entire month, but also faithful.. If he can do this... The entire company is his!! And if he can not - it ALL goes to his step sister, (she is soo evil) Emelia!!
This has a lot of Drama and twists, yet for Riley to be so naïve in the 'man dept' she has one heck of a backbone!! Loved her!!

I never really like stories told from the first person account of one character. This book has it from BOTH the male & female first person. That's REALLY distracting. Typo & grammar errors don't help. The "hero" is not a very nice person. The only good thing is that he tries to stop a purse snatched from an elderly lady at the airport while his step sister is trying to seduce him in full view of the public (ICK!!). Also trying to catch the thief is American art student Riley Tremaine who gets stabbed by the thief for her efforts. The hero, Matteo, is informed that he was marry & stay faithful to his temporary wife for 30 days in order to inherit his late father's multi national corporation. The stepsister is eager to apply for the job, but Matteo decides the lovely Riley is a better proposition. Of course his plans go awry when his stepsister tries everything to get the bride arrested and Matteo starts developing feelings for his pretend bride. Things come to a breaking point when the stepsister reveals her ultimatum to Matteo. It's not the best book I've ever read but not the worst either. Just don't like that first person set up!
